Design is a journey. It is a long journey of continuous learning and unlearning, going forwards and backwards. Like a subway map in New York, the journey of design has no specific start or end point, and no journey is the same. Here, at the AGDA Design Awards Exhibition, the journeys of many designers intersect, where we celebrate each other’s travels and achievements. The AGDA Awards acknowledges the works of young student designers who have just started their journey, to those veteran designers who continue their journeys today. And for you, your journey starts here.
This project is a speculative exhibition identity for the Australian Graphic Design Association Awards. The hypothetical theme of this brief was ‘Design is…’, where I was required to complete this concept statement and develop a visual identity based on my interpretation. Taking inspiration from the designs of New York Subway maps by Massimo Vignelli, I created a visual branding to be applied across an entry wall and exhibition guide.
